I am sure you have heard one of the most famous Affirmation evermade over a hundred years ago by a man named Emile Coue (1857-1926). It was, “Every day in every way I'm getting better and better”
Affirmations are positive statements that usually reflect the present tense of a desired state of a person—physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Repeating these statements focuses the conscious mind on the desired state and helps the unconscious mind manifest this state. Affirmations can influence both levels of the mind, conscious and unconscious. Affirmations are very powerful and they do work. There are many books written on Affirmations and much research done on the positive effects Affirmations can have on a person.
The Simonton’s were pioneers in the field of Cancer Guided Imagery and the body-mind connection. Their best-selling book, Getting Well Again was published in 1979. They established one of the first protocols for Cancer Guided Imagery. This was considered a break through event at the time in a field that had plenty of anecdotal information, but very little scientific proof. Since the Simonton’s book was published, additional research has been conducted with cancer patients, using Cancer Guided Imagery and Relaxation Techniques during their treatment and recovery. And this research shows that both processes produced positive results.
